ABC Recognition Program awards 2021-22 recipients

The Abbotsford School District is thrilled to announce the ABC (Above and Beyond Champions) Recognition Program recipients from the 2021-22 school year, celebrating outstanding individuals who have significantly contributed to strategic goals, organizational values and the culture of the school district. Recipients were celebrated alongside their colleagues and peers at the Long-Term Service Dinner on March 1, 2023 at the Clarion Hotel.

School District Celebrates Long-Term Service

On March 1, 2023, the Abbotsford School District held an evening of celebration in honour of the long-term service of over 130 employees. These employees have served in the district for 20, 25, 30, 35 and 45 years. From classroom teachers to administrative assistants, custodians and carpenters to school leadership, employees across the district perform essential roles in providing day-to-day quality service and support to contribute to the vision of building a world-class, innovative and individualized educational experience for every student.

Community Recognizes Heroes in Education

We are thrilled to announce that four Abbotsford School District "Heroes in Education" have been featured in a special publication in the Abbotsford News for their exceptional work and dedication to education.

Congratulations to the following:

Nicole Longpre - Teacher at Centennial Park Elementary
She got into assistance work about seven years ago, and now instead of a full classroom, she has a day full of various duties. She helps students with designations like autism, and supports the kids who just need a boost with reading and writing.

Yale Hockey Academy to transition to Independent Entity

During a January 2023 in-camera Board Meeting, the Abbotsford Board of Education entered into Agreement with the Yale Hockey Development Group to operate a hockey academy program in the school district beginning in July 2023. Deliberations around the future of the specialty hockey program have been taking place throughout much of 2022 as the Abbotsford School District investigated various options for operations.

Superintendent Dr. Kevin Godden Announces Impending Retirement

Today, Abbotsford School District's Superintendent, Dr. Kevin Godden, announced his intent to retire at the end of the 2022/23 school year to all staff in the district via email. He had discussed this decision with the Abbotsford Board of Education earlier in the school year.
