Abbotsford School District Expands Support Staff Appreciation Day

June 6, 2024

The Abbotsford School District is excited to announce the expansion of its annual appreciation day to include all support staff, now designated as Support Staff Appreciation Day. This special day, first introduced last year as Instructional Support Staff Appreciation Day, is dedicated to recognizing the invaluable contributions of Educational Assistants, Youth Care Workers, International Student Liaisons, Indigenous Support Workers, Custodians, Administrative Assistants, and all other support staff members that contribute to the success of our organization. The inaugural celebration took place last June, and from this year onward, Support Staff Appreciation Day will continue to be observed annually on the first Thursday of June.

“At the Abbotsford School District, we pride ourselves on the development of a progressive workforce, and support staff play a vital role in supporting students, educators, administrators, and departments in various capacities,” said Sean Nosek, Superintendent of Schools. “You’ve heard me say before that ‘it takes all of us.’ We would not be able to do this important work without you.”

The commencement of Support Staff Appreciation Day stemmed from a collaborative effort between the previous Superintendent of Schools and the Teamsters Union to publicly recognize and celebrate the efforts of over 500 employees working throughout the Abbotsford School District. These dedicated individuals contribute significantly to the vision of creating a world-class, innovative, and individualized educational experience for every student.

Thank you to all support staff in #AbbySchools for your dedication and service. Your unwavering commitment is evident, and it is only fitting that we honour and express our gratitude for the assistance, guidance, and care you provide to so many.
